The history of Tiffany method

The apparition of the stained glass has its originis in XI century and
we have from that period a stained glass window that represent Christ
face. This stained glass can still be admired even today in a museum from
Strassbourg.

Along with modernization of coloured glass melting methods since Middle
Ages stained glass has become possible.

Fortunately, we can admire even today these stained glasses inside the churches, cathedrals, and
in a few others buldings in the world as citadelas or castles.
These creations are manufactured through lead glass method, where the coloured glass pieces are
fixed in lead profiles in U or V shape and are soldered in the crossing points of the material.

Such pieces of art can be seen today in a significant
number especially within the cathedrals from France.
Louis Comfort Tiffany the son of a famous jeweller from
New York studied painting and made a lot of studying trips
through France.

But also, in that time, the knowledge of stained glass manufacturing
methods started to be forgotten. Their manufacturing recommenced in the
1800 when it started reproducing ancient stained glasses. The best results
were performed by the Tiffany Glass Company founded by Mr. Tiffany.

Mr. Tiffany developed and manufactured opalescent glasses where the
difference against translucent ordinary glass consists in their quality.

The reading-lamps, lamps and stained glasses manufactured by Tiffany
raised these products popularity they began entering into our flats,
offices and buildings.
